Daniel Jewelry Angel Pendants Are Solid Gold

3rd Feb 2016

When you shop for fine jewelry, such as angel pendants, at Daniel Jewelry, you get top-quality pieces made with the finest materials available. We pick out each diamond individually in order to perform the appropriate inspections, ensuring that only the top quality diamonds make it to our customers. Our quality-controlled, hand set diamonds aren’t the only fine material used in crafting our angel pendants. Each pendant is also made from solid yellow gold; they are not gold-plated or gold-filled.

What is Gold-Plated?

Jewelry that is gold-plated is made up of some other type of base metal, such as silver or nickel, and then coated with an extremely thin layer of solid gold through a process called electroplating. These pieces are often prone to tarnishing, and the gold can wear and chip away over the years. Gold-plated jewelry is not as valuable as gold-filled or solid gold jewelry because the actual gold content is very small.

What is Gold-Filled?

Jewelry that is gold-filled is more valuable than gold-plated jewelry but less valuable than solid gold. Still made using a base metal, typically silver or brass, gold-filled pieces have a much thicker layer of gold, and the gold is actually bonded to the base metal using intense pressure and heat. Gold-filled pieces have an average lifespan between five and 30 years, whereas solid gold lasts forever.
